Reported MAS Flight Crash Shocks Najib, Launches Immediate Investigation

KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was shocked by reports that Malaysia Airline (MAS) Flight MH17 enroute from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur had crashed.

"I am shocked by reports that an MH plane crashed. We are launching an immediate investigation (on the report)," he said in his latest tweet today.

An international news agency had reported that a Malaysian airplane had crashed in Ukraine near the Russian border today.

Malaysia Airlines (MAS), in its recent tweet, said it lost contact with the flight and the last known position of the flight was over Ukrainian airspace.

An international news agency reported that a Malaysian passenger Boeing 777 airliner with 295 people on board crashed in Ukraine near the Russian border.
