BURSA MALAYSIA: KL Shares Mixed In Early Session

KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 (Bernama) -- Share prices on Bursa Malaysia were mixed in early session despite positive leads from Wall Street overnight, dealers said.

The Dow Industrial rose 0.45 per cent to 17,138.20, the S&P 500 gained 0.42 per cent to 1,981.57 and the Nasdaq composite index added 0.22 per cent to 4,425.97.

At 9.35 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 0.16 of a point lower at 1,886.55 after opening 0.16 points higher at 1,888.15.

However, gainers led losers 258 to 170 with 263 counters unchanged, 948 untraded and 26 others were suspended.

Turnover stood at 385.37 million shares worth RM225.02 million.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index increased 15.25 points to 17,586.54, the Plantation Index added 3.42 points to 9,086.95 and the Industrial Index slipped 1.71 points to 3,261.65.

The FBM Emas Index increased 1.819 points to 13,162.89, the FBMT100 Index advanced 1.53 points to 12,754.5, the FBM Ace slipped 19.4 points to 6,884.73 and the FBM 70 earned 11.62 points to 14,496.41.

Among actives, newly listed, Tanah Makmur advanced 67 sen to RM1.92 after opening at RM1.60.

Sumatec Resources was flat at 39.5 sen, AirAsia X rose 3.5 sen to 75.5 sen after it ordered 50 A330-900neo aircraft worth US$13.8 billion.

Of heavyweights, Maybank slipped one sen to RM9.99, Public Bank was flat at RM20.16 and Tenaga dropped two sen to RM12.44.
