Musa Wants Police To Investigate Armed Group's Ambush In Mabul Island

KOTA KINABALU, July 13 (Bernama) -- Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman has instructed the police to investigate the ambush in Mabul island which claimed the life of a marine police, from all angles.

"I have been briefed. All motives are being investigated including the possibility of revenge over heightened enforcement in Sabah waters. The relevant authorities must leave no stones unturned in getting to the bottom of this.

"The culprits are getting more daring by the day," he said in statement issued here Sunday.

Musa said more need to be done in terms of stepping up intelligence and coordinating with our counterparts in the Philippines.

He said there must also be full cooperation and coordination among the police, marine coast guards and the armed forces.

"I also wish to assure that the State Government will provide all the necessary assistance to the victims' families during this difficult times," he said.

Last night, at 11.10pm, a group of eight heavily armed men ambushed a resort in Pulau Mabul and killed a marine police and abducted another.
