ICAO Closely Monitoring Reports On MH17

KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 (Bernama) -- The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has expressed its deep regrets over the loss of passengers and crew on board Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17.

In a statement issued on its website today, ICAO said the organisation was closely monitoring reports on the incident and coordinating with all relevant parties.

An international news agency reported that a Malaysian airplane had crashed in Ukraine near the Russian border today.

Flight MH17 operated on a Boeing 777 departed Amsterdam at 12.15pm (Amsterdam local time) and was estimated to arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 6.10 am (Malaysia local time) the next day.

The flight was carrying 280 passengers and 15 crew onboard.
