Ukraine Sets Up State Commission To Investigate MH17 Tragedy
According to the president's official website, www.president.gov.ua/en/, the commission would involve experts from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and other international structures, as well as representatives from the Netherlands and Malaysia.
"On behalf of the state, the President of Ukraine expressed the deepest and the most sincere condolences to friends and relatives of the deceased in this dreadful tragedy.
"All possible search-and-rescue operation are being conducted," it said.
The website said it was the third tragic accident, after the downing of the Ukrainian Armed Forces An-26 and Su-25 from the Russian territory.
"We do not exclude that the given plane was also shot down and emphasised that the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not commit any actions to strike targets in the air.
"We are confident that those responsible for the tragedy will be brought to justice," it said.
An international news agency reported that a Malaysian airplane had crashed in Ukraine near the Russian border today. MAS in its latest tweet said it lost contact with the flight and the last known position of the aircraft was over Ukrainian airspace.
