Agong Attends 'Yasin' Reading In Conjunction With Warriors' Day

KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 (Bernama) -- The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah today attended the breaking of fast and 'Yasin' reading, as well as prayers, in conjunction with the 2014 Warriors' Day celebration.

It was held at the National Mosque here.

Tuanku Abdul Halim was accompanied by Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah.

Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, and Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The function was also attended by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar and the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa.

The programme began with the reading of the Yasin, followed by tahlil and prayers and then the breaking of fast.

Tuanku Abdul Halim and Tuanku Hajah Haminah then joined the congregation to perform the Maghrib prayer which was led by the Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Tan Sri Syeikh Ismail Muhammad, followed by the Isyak and Tarawih prayers.

Warriors' Day is celebrated on July 31 every year to commemorate the sacrifices of security members killed in fighting for the country.
