Umno Welfare Bureau Mobilises Humanitarian Mission To Gaza Next Week

KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 (Bernama) -- Umno Malaysia Welfare Bureau will mobilise its humanitarian aid to Gaza on Wednesday and will enter the territory the following day to channel aid to the residents there.

Chairman of the bureau, Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim said 65 people comprising 40 specialist doctors, 15 volunteers and 10 media personnel would join the mission which would focus on medical aid and food supply.

"All the mission members this time will stay at the hospital to be determined later to facilitate us in providing aid especially to those injured by Israeli attacks.

"All our doctors comprising orthopedic surgeons and pediatricians, including two gynecologists would be deployed to four hospitals in Gaza," he said at a media conference after attending the programme, 'Moment of Solidarity with our People in Palestine' organised by the Palestine Embassy, here Thursday.

He said the initial batch would fly to Cairo, Egypt on Sunday to buy food supplies before they were taken to Gaza and distributed to seven areas in the province.

Abdul Azeez, who is also Chairman of the 1Malaysia Kelab Putera, said to avoid undesired incidents, the humanitarian mission team this time would be in Gaza for only one week and would be replaced by another team after that period.
