Akrab Bernama Launches Website

KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 (Bernama)-- Akrab or the Public Service Counselling Associates of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) launched its website Thursday to introduce its roles and functions to the agency's employees.

The website,, features its activities, corporate information, mission, vision, objectives and role, and inviting the 750 Bernama employees to be more open towards making an Akrab member their friend to guide them to improve their work performance and excellence.

The website was launched by Bernama General Manager Datuk Yong Soo Heong, who is also the Akrab Bernama patron.

Bernama Editor-in-Chief and Akrab Bernama chairman Datuk Zulkefli Salleh, in his speech at the launch, said it was hoped that by clarifying Akrab's role and functions on the website, the misconception that Akrab was only for problematic employees would be removed.

He said various activities had been and were being planned for Bernama staff, including a positive work culture, clustered counselling and guidance and counselling sessions to improve work performance.

Zulkefli said Akrab Bernama was also involved in activities run by the Communications and Multimedia Ministry such as the mentor and mentee programme, motivational programme and 'Salam' and 'Buddy' programmes.

He said Akrab Bernama had also opened an Akrab clinic for members and Bernama staff to obtain information and set appointments.

The clinic is open for an hour from 1 pm on Tuesdays.

Akrab Bernama was established in 2012 in accordance with the Service Circular on User Application of Psychology in the Public Sector.

At the event, the ministry's psychology officer also gave a briefing on Akrab.
