Heavy Traffic Expected At Woodlands, Tuas Checkpoints During Hari Raya Puasa Period

SINGAPORE, July 17 (Bernama) -- With Hari Raya Puasa coming up on July 28, traffic flow through the land checkpoints at Woodlands and Tuas is expected to be heavy, said the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

"Travellers can expect delays when travelling during the peak period," it said in a statement Thursday.

ICA said traffic volume at the two land checkpoints is expected to build up from Friday (July 25) and will continue till Monday (July 28).

Departure traffic at both checkpoints is expected to be heavy from July 25 to July 27.

For arrival, traffic at both checkpoints is expected to be particularly heavy from July 25 to July 28.

Travellers departing Singapore are advised not to travel by foot to the Woodlands Checkpoint during this peak period but to make use of public transport instead.

With security checks, ICA explained that traffic build-up is inevitable, especially when a large number of travellers use the checkpoints at the same time.

To avoid a surge of travellers and vehicles seeking clearance at the land checkpoints, travellers are advised to adjust their travel plans if possible.

ICA will continue to take the necessary measures to improve clearance efficiency as much as possible without compromising security.

It also seeks travellers' understanding and cooperation when using the land checkpoints during the peak period.
