MRT Corp To Consider Reopening Roads Affected By MRT Project To Ease Raya Exodus

KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 (Bernama) -- Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) will consider whether to reopen the roads affected by the Sungai Buloh-Kajang Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project, on the weekend just before the Aidilfitri celebration.

Its Strategic Communication and Public Affairs director, Amir Mahmood Razak said this was to ease traffic flow for road users returning to their hometowns for the celebration.

"This festive season, the affected roads are still closed to traffic on normal days but we are studying whether to stall the project on that Saturday and Sunday and reopen these roads to traffic," he said when met at a breaking of fast with the media, here, Wednesday.

Amir also said that 45 per cent of the project were completed earlier than scheduled, while 64 per cent involved work underground.
