War In Palestine Should Be A Lesson To Malaysians

RAUB, July 16 (Bernama) -- Malaysians, regardless of race, should see the war in Palestine and strife in other Middle-East countries as a lesson and to avoid it from happening in this country.

The Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah said wars would only bring destruction, cause hardship to the people and cripple the economy.

"Whatever their political affiliations or religion, Malaysians should unite in defending the peace and sovereignty of the country so that we can be more progressive compared to other countries which are experiencing strife and destruction.

"We should be grateful because we have freedom without restrictions and war, and can practise our religions without fear and pressure," he said.

Tengku Abdullah was speaking at the breaking-of-fast ceremony held in Kampung Ulu Sungai, near Batu Malim, Raub yesterday where he presented donations conjunction with Ramadan and Aidilfitri to orphans, handicapped and the poor.

The event was attended by Dong State Assemblyman Datuk Shahiruddin Ab Moin and Batu Talam State Assemblyman Datuk Aziz Mat Kiram.

Tengku Abdullah also urged Muslims in Malaysia to strengthen unity to face challenges from the enemies of Islam.

"We have to unite to protect and defend Islam from its enemies," he said.
