Senior GLC Officer Under MACC Probe

KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 (Bernama) -- A senior officer of a Government- Linked Company well known in the vehicle lubrication oil business is being investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission pertaining to a corruption syndicate involving a a total sum of more than RM1.7 million.

The MACC in a statement here today, said the syndicate was was suspected of abusing funding for the upgrading of workshops in several states.

The syndicate among others had proposed contractors involving family members and friends to get eight such upgrading projects in 2009 and 2010 around Putrajaya, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka.

According to the statement, each of the contractors who got the contracts paid bribes from RM70,000 to RM260,000 to the officer involved.

It added that MACC would be charging all involved very soon.
