UTP VC Abdul Rahim Appointed Fellow Of Academy Of Sciences Malaysia
Abdul Rahim was elected at the recent annual general meeting of ASM, said a UTP statement here today.
It said that with the election of Abdul Rahim, there were now three ASM fellows serving at UTP, the others being Prof Dr Ahmad Fadzil Mohamad Hani (Engineering Sciences) and Prof Dr Norani Muti Mohamed (Mathematical and Physical Sciences).
ASM is a statutory body set up to pursue, encourage and enhance excellence in science, engineering and technology for the benefit of mankind.
The statement said Abdul Rahim, a graduate in electronics and electrical engineering, has been with Petronas for more than 32 years and has held a number of high-profile positions including chief executive officer of the Malaysian Refinery Company, chief executive of Petronas Penapisan Melaka, vice president of Human Resource Management, vice president of Gas Business and vice president of the Research and Technology Division.
He was also the chairman and director of the various boards of Petronas subsidiaries and associated companies, including Gas Malaysia Audit Board Committee, Asean LNG Trading Company Ltd, PICL (Egypt) Corporation Ltd, PETGAS (UK) Ltd and Petronas Argentina S.A.
Abdul Rahim is an associate member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineering and a commissioner of the Energy Commission.
