Education Can Secure Future Of Street Children - YBK

KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 (Bernama) -- The Poverty Eradication Foundation (YBK) seeks to provide education to street children in the federal capital as an approach to help them secure a future.

Its chairman Datuk Zainal Abidin Sakom also urged other non governmental organisations to adopt the same initiative and give such children the opportunity to go to school like other youngsters, and at the same time tackle the homeless community dilemma.

"Since 1993, YBK has been sending children of needy families in the rural areas to a hostel, Asrama Kasih YBK and bear the expenses including food and clothing, on condition that they attend school," he told Bernama after attending an Ihya' Ramadan gathering here today.

YBK which is based in Selangor has two hostels, at Kampung Seri Serendah, Hulu Selangor and Kampung Gesir, Hulu Bernam.
