Police Nab Five Suspected Drug Traffickers, Including A Woman, In Setapak

KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 (Bernama) -- Police believe they have manage to cripple a drug trafficking syndicate with the arrest of five individuals, including a woman, and seized various types of synthetic drugs worth RM50,000 in a raid on a house in Taman Setapak Indah here last Wednesday.

Wangsa Maju police chief, Supt Nor Azman Muhamad Yusuf said acting on public tip off, a team of policemen carried out the 1 am raid and found all of the suspects, aged between 22 and 49, as well as the drugs, in the house.

"They were believed to have been active in trafficking drugs around Setapak over the past three months. Among the drugs seized from the suspects were 585 Ecstasy pills, 13 Yaba pills, 65gm of ketamin, 7gm of syabu and some Ecstasy powder," he told reporters in Kuala Lumpur, Monday.

Also seized were drug paraphernalia, as well as a blender, a weighing scale and a calculator, he said.

The five suspects were also tested positive for Methamphetamine.

The case is being investigated under Section 39(B) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries a mandatory death penalty upon conviction.
