Terengganu Reduces Affordable House Price From RM73,000 To RM68,000

DUNGUN, July 13 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu government has decided to bring down the price of affordable houses in the state from RM73,000 to only RM68,000, said Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman.

He was speaking at a breaking of fast and handing-out of appointment letters to members of the village security and development committees in the Dungun district, here, last night.

"With this, the monthly payment for the house is reduced to only RM189 from RM323 which hopefully, will help lessen the house buyers' financial burden.

"Besides this, the service charge of 5.5 per cent imposed previously, has been removed," he said, followed by thunderous applause from the crowd of over 5,000 people at the function.

Also present were state secretary Datuk Mazlan Ngah, state executive councillor Roslee Daud, Dungun district officer Datuk Mohd Akil Mat, Dungun development officer Datuk Din Adam and Terengganu Economic Development Corporation general manager Datuk Wan Zahari Ngah.

Ahmad Razif said the new move, however, did not involve the affordable units at the Ladang Gemilang apartment project in Pulau Duyong, near Kuala Terengganu, as the units were offered to residents under a special package.

"There are also affordable units which are ready but marred by some construction flaws that need to be repaired at a cost of RM3,000 to RM5,000 per unit within a month before they are disbersed," he added.

Among the houses which are ready but not given out yet are in Kampung Seberang Batu Hampar, near Manir, Kuala Terengganu and at a number of phases in Kemasik, Kemaman.

After the breaking of fast, Ahmad Razif performed tarawih prayers with the village residents at the Pak Sabak Mosque, near here.
