Garbage Collection Service For Free By SWM During Aidilfitri
Johore Solid Waste And Public Cleansing Management Corporation director Asri Amat said the move by SWM Environment Sdn Bhd was aimed at putting an end to instances of illegal dumping of bulk garbage associated with festive seasons or celebrations.
"This service, a corporate social responsibility and annual activity of SWM, is provided especially for residents who want to dispose of old or spoilt and useless items including furniture and electrical appliances," he told reporters after launching the service here yesterday.
He said the collection would follow a schedule set by the respective local authorities in Johor Baharu, Segamat, Kota Tinggi, Kluang, Yong Peng, Mersing and Labis.
"Last year, the Johor Baharu city council and Johor Baharu Tengah municipal council collected about 62.54 tonnes of garbage compared to 54 tonnes in the previous year," he said.
He said the public could channel their complaints or enquiries to SWM's toll free line at 1-800-88-7472 or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
