Moderate Air Quality Recorded In More Areas Today

KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 (Bernama) -- Moderate air quality was recorded in 18 areas, six more than yesterday, in the country as at 8 am today, according to the Department of Environment (DoE).

The DoE portal identified these areas as Port Klang (where the Air Pollutant Index recorded was 74); Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur (65); Cheras in Kuala Lumpur (65); Petaling Jaya (64); Shah Alam (63); Kuala Selangor (61); Tanjung Malim in Perak (60); Seri Manjung in Perak (59); Pasir Gudang in Johor (59); Bakar Arang, Sungai Petani, in Kedah (58); Nilai in Negeri Sembilan (57); SK Jalan Pegoh, Ipoh, in Perak (56); Jalan Tasik, Ipoh, in Perak (55); Kemaman in Terengganu (55); Seberang Jaya 2, Perai, in Penang (53), Kampung Air Putih, Taiping, in Perak (53); Putrajaya (53) and Jerantut in Pahang (51).

An API reading of between zero and 50 indicates good air quality; between 51 and 100, moderate; between 101 and 200, unhealthy; between 201 and 300, very unhealthy and over 301, hazardous.

Members of the public can refer to the DOE portal at http://www.doe.gov.my to find out the API reading for their areas.
