26-KM LPT 2 Jabor-Cheneh Stretch In Kemaman Opens On July 21
Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said the 26-kilometre stretch would provide comfort to road users for the Aidilfitri.
"The remaining stretch of LPT 2 which has yet to be completed is 80 kilometres, so with the opening of the second package, only 54 kilometres need to be constructed for full completion as the state government targeted its opening by the end of the year at the latest.
"We are also studying the possibility of opening the route between Cheneh and Chukai before Aidilfitri, but the Jabor-Cheneh-Chukai direct route totalling 40 kilometres has yet to be approved and gazetted," he said.
If the route to Chukai could be opened before Aidilfitri, it meant that only 40 kilometres more needed to be built for the completion of the whole stretch, he said.
The LPT 2 project stretching 184 kilometres beginning from Jabor, Kemaman to Kampung Gemuruh, in the northern part of Kuala Terengganu is a continuation of the LPT Phase 1 project which is from Karak to Kuantan stretching 159 kilometres which began in March 2006.
