1MTC Can Save RM585 Million A Year In Government Funds - Entulu
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun said the estimated savings were based on monitoring by the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU).
He said the use of the public training institutes registered under 1MTC had reduced government spending to RM11.26 million a week.
Entulu said 1MTC had acted as a repository which gathered all information relating to courses and facilities available at the training institutes.
Speaking at a press conference after a working visit to Wisma Bernama here Tuesday, he said 346 public training institutes with various course facilities had registered with 1MTC since its inception in March, 2012.
1MTC is among the government's common use information and communication technology service providers which cut cross public agencies under the National Blue Ocean Strategy.
"Government agencies needing places for training or facilities will be able to save by utilising the facilities at the public training institutes compared to the cost charged by the private sector for the use of their place and facilities.
"This simultaneously optimises the sharing of resources and facilities available at the institutes which were under-utilised previously.
Entulu's visit to Wisma Bernama was also joined by MAMPU director-general Datuk Wira Omar Kaseh and 14 senior officials and other officers of agencies under the Prime Minister's Department.
Entulu said through the portal, www.1mtc.gov.my, other than government agencies, the public could also find out faster and more accurately information on the facilities and courses offered by the training institutes, to make bookings if they were interested.
Earlier, Bernama general manager Datuk Yong Soo Heong gave a briefing on the operations of Bernama to Entulu and his delegation.
This was followed by a visit to the main newsroom of the editorial department on the first floor, and to Radio 24 and Bernama TV in the same building.
