Defence, Transport Ministries To Establish Cooperation In Aviation
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the time had come to look into the possibility of the two ministries working together to face future challenges.
"Since I am helming both ministries, the one legacy I want to see is close cooperation between the Transport Ministry and the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM).
"I am looking into how we can get a permanent post for the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) in the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA)."
He said this after launching the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) of the National Service Training Department (JLKN) at the Seri Perkasa PLKN Camp in Mantin, near here, Monday.
Also present were the Defence Ministry's secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Ahmad, National Service Training Council chairman Datuk Noor Ehsanuddin Mohd Harun Narrashid, JLKN director-general Datuk Abdul Hadi Awang Kechil and Third Division commander Major-General Datuk Sheikh Mokhsin Sheikh Hassan.
Hishammuddin said if cooperation could be established between the police and military, it was not impossible for such a cooperation be forged between the Defence Ministry and DCA.
Meanwhile, he said the strategic collaboration introduced by the government through the NBOS would not only have a high impact on society, but also reduced the country's expenditure.
He said the move to place PLKN under the NBOS was a crucial transformation in ensuring the programme remained relevant, as well as to avoid wastage.
He said there were four initiatives carried out by JLKN under the NBOS, namely creating community service volunteers, Sukma volunteers, tour volunteers and road safety volunteers.
"Through these initiatives, JLKN will cooperate with various departments and agencies," he added.
