Empower ECER Participants More Confident About Promoting Their Talent

KOTA BAHARU, July 17 (Bernama) -- The 1,600 participants who received skills and entrepreneurship training under the Empower East Coast Economic Region (ECER) programme in Kelantan, feel more confident about promoting their talent to drive income generation.

The East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) General Manager, Corporate Communications Noor Azma Abdul Rahman said the programme introduced in 2011 has trained participants to be braver towards becoming successful businessmen.

"In reality, they have the skills but do not know how to highlight it. By participating in the programme, they are taught how to promote their products," she added.

She told reporters this here last night at an event to break the fast with the media.

Noor Azma said the participants who previously were involved in small scale businesses, are now braver in wanting to venture into bigger markets, including Bazaar Ramadan's as well as take orders from customers.

Meanwhile, a biscuit manufacturer Siti Aishah Che Deraman, 30, said since participating in the programme in May, she felt more confident about receiving more orders from the public.

"Previously, I just made the biscuits to be sold on a small scale. But after receiving the mentoring at the Empower ECER programme, it has made me more confident about taking on more orders," she added when met at the Bazaar Ramadan Kok Lanas.

Another participant, Safarah Nor Sahari, 32, said since undergoing the skills training in the making of cakes and pastries under the Empower ECER programme, her interest in the area has expanded.

"I now am more skilful in making a variety of cakes and my friends have begun to have confidence in my ability by placing orders," she added.

Safarah markets her products at the Bazaar Ramadan Ketereh here.
