Scomi Engineering To Participate In Brazil's RM5.9 Billion Subway Project

KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 (Bernama) -- Scomi Engineering Bhd will participate in the 15.5km Line 18 - Bronze of the Sao Paolo subway project in Brazil.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia on Wednesday, Scomi Engineering said it will provide the monorail technology.

Scomi Enginering said it was currently in further talks with the four-company consortium, which has secured the project, to provide the rolling stock technology and maintenance services.

"The project is expected to contribute to the group's revenue during the financial year ending March 31, 2016," it said.

The four-company consortium comprises Primav Construcoes e Comercio S/A, Construtora Cowan S.A., Encalso Construcoes Ltda and e Benito Roggio Transportes S/A.

The Line 18-Bronze Subway involves two phases.

Phase one is for implementation of infrastructure over 48 months, and Phase two for operations and maintenance services over 21 years.

The monorail will have 13 stations, one depot and three interchange terminals.

Meanwhile, in a separate announcement, Scomi Engineering said the trading of its shares resumed from 10.01am today, after been halted for an hour.
