Work To Build RM500 Million Furniture Exhibition Centre To Start Year-end
Deputy International Minister of Trade and Industry, Datuk Ir Hamim Samuri, said the first phase of the project was expected to cost RM150 million.
"The Malaysian Investment Development Authority is in the final stage of the evaluation regarding the incentives for the project," he said.
Hamim said this at a media briefing after presenting zakat contributions from SME Bank to 274 poor folks from the Serom State Assembly constituency here today.
Also present were SME Bank managing director, Datuk Mohd Radzif Mohd Yunus and State Assemblyman for Serom seat, Abd Razak Minhat.
Hamim, who is also member of Parliament for Ledang, said in addition to the exhibition area, the centre would also have other facilities like a hotel.
"The international standard exhibition area would also enable local furniture producers to exhibit their products in one area which is well-equipped and attractive," he said.
He said the exhibition centre would also boost the economy of the locals who would benefit from the spillover effects of the marketing of the furniture.
