Nestle Malaysia's Profitability Improved By 11 Per Cent Last Year
Hofbauer said the company had achieved eight per cent growth in its domestic segment last year amid slower export growth.
Speaking to reporters at the launch of the "Nestle More Goodness, More Value" campaign here recently, Hofbauer said the global economic situation had affected the export segment.
Nestle Malaysia's pre-tax profit for the financial year Dec 31,2013 rose to RM719.05 million from RM637.67 million in the previous year.
Revenue increased to RM4.79 billion from RM4.56 billion.
"We hope to improve our profitability in a sustainable and incremental way," Hofbauer said.
He said Nestle currently held a 40-50 per cent market share of the Malaysian food and beverages market.
Commenting on the Shah Alam plant which is expected to start operations in May this year, he said it would double production capacity.
"A big part of the production volume of the Shah Alam plant is to cater to the domestic market," Hofbauer said.
Meanwhile, for the six-week campaign, Nestle has targeted to convince one million Malaysians to pledge to start a healthy lifestyle.
It will at the same time enable Nestle to share its knowledge and expertise in nutrition.
The campaign will be supported by road shows at hypermarkets and supermarkets throughout the country.
