ASEAN Officials Discussed Transnational Crime At Bandung Meet

JAKARTA, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- The Asean Secretariat organised a two-day Senior Officials Meeting on Transnational Crime (SOMTC) in Bandung, West Java, that ended on Friday, Indonesia's Antara news agency said Saturday.

The Asean senior officials together with representatives from relevant organisations, shared knowledge, experience and techniques in investigating cyber crime and implementing relevant laws, Antara cited a report on the Jakarta-based Asean Secretariat's official website, here on Saturday.

"In view of the increasing trend of cyber crime in the region, Asean is beefing up the capacity of its law enforcement agencies in the investigation of this borderless activity," the report said.

The workshop was convened with the support of the Government of the Republic of Korea and comprised representatives from the Asia-Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT), Australian Federal Police, International Criminal Police Organisation - INTERPOL, Korean Computer Emergency Response Team (KrCERT), Korean National Police Agency, Microsoft and observers from Australia and the United States of America.
