Yemen Intensifies Security Along Coastline

SANA'A, Oct 23 (Bernama) - Security authorities have intensified security procedures along the coastal strip to prevent any arms smuggling operations to Yemen, Interior Ministry reported on Thursday.

According to Yemen news agency (Saba), the ministry has tightened control on all main and secondary harbours and has taken precautionary procedures all along the coasts to foil any weapon smuggling operations into the country.

The Ministry has coordinated with naval forces and the military camps located in the coastal governorates to detain any boats suspected of carrying arms.

The security bodies watch round the clock the movements of ships sailing nearby the Yemeni coasts also to prevent drugs smuggling into the Yemeni territories.

Deputy Prime Minister for Security and Defence Affairs Rashad al-Alimi has said before the Parliament that the government is concerned about the unloading of arms shipment in Somalia or Djibouti into boats and smuggled to Yemen, affirming that the government has taken the required actions.
