Nasir Is Back As Johor Coach

JOHOR BAHARU, Nov 28 (Bernama) -- Nasir Yusof is back at the helm, two months after he was forced to take a leave of absence by his employer, the Johor Football Association.

In the current state of affairs confronting the Johor FA -- with the resignation of president Ahamad Mohammad and two senior officials last month, and with the new M-League season starting in two months -- they have turned to Nasir again to lead the team's challenge for the 2010 season.

Johor State Executive Councillor for Sports Jais Sarday, who is entrusted by the state government to look into the matter, has turned to the former international to chart Johor's challenge for the new season.

"Nasir is the first name I have on my list to coach the Johor team. We only have two months before the new season begins and we need a coach to select and prepare the team," said Jais.

Nasir, a former international, coached the Johor team for the 2009 season in the Premier league but after winning promotion and qualifying for the Malaysia Cup, he was told by the team management to go on leave three days before the competition began.

No reasons were given for the decision but it was an open secret that team officials were not happy with the way Nasir brought in outsiders to help prepare the team.

"That's the past. Nasir is still a good coach and I believe he will do his best for Johor. I have spoken to him and he is ready to shoulder the task," said Jais.

The next thing on Jais' agenda is to work towards getting the Johor FA back on firm footing, administrative wise.

"To fill up the president's post and other vacancies, we need to call for an extraordinary general meeting and we are in the process of doing so.

"In fact there has been a few names which have been proposed for the presidency," added Jais.
