14 Countries To Compete In Perak Amanjaya International Eco Adventure
IPOH, Nov 30 (Bernama) -- The Perak AmanJaya International Eco Adventure, a five-day athletic competition, has attracted 17 teams from 14 countries.
State Arts, Culture and Sports Committee Chairman Zainol Fadzli Pahruddin said Monday, among countries that confirmed their participation are Sweden, United States, Taiwan, Japan, United Kingdom, Italy, New Zealand, France, South Africa, Canada, Singapore, Finland and Mongolia.
The five-day competition requires each two-member team to cover a total of 212km within an anticipated time of 28 hours in five main adventure disciplines - cycling, canoeing, trekking, caving and swimming.
Zainol said the event would help promote Perak as a eco-tourism destination through ESPN Star Sports, which had agreed to become the official broadcast media for the event which is expected to reach about 1.3 billion viewers, worldwide.
He added that ESPN Star Sports had agreed to telecast the three-hour event while there will be repeat telecast of up to a total 75 hours to audiences across a wide spectrum of demographics across Asia with their extensive broadcast networks.
