South Korea's Jeju Air To Offer New Flights To Osaka

SEOUL, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- Jeju Air Co., South Korea's top budget carrier, said Thursday that it will launch a new Japanese route linking Gimpo, a city on the western outskirts of Seoul, with the Japanese city of Osaka, Yonhap news agency reported.

Jeju Air plans to offer seven weekly flights on the route starting Friday, the company said in a statement.

The launch of the Gimpo-Osaka route comes after the low-cost carrier opened its overseas flights routes between Incheon, South Korea's main gateway, and the Japanese cities of Osaka and Kitakyushu in March and between Incheon and Bangkok in April.

The company is also expected to ratchet up competition among airlines that have been providing flight services on the Gimpo-Osaka route.

The airlines are two local full-service carriers Korean Air Lines Co. and Asiana Airlines Inc. and two Japanese full-service carriers Japan Air Lines Co. and All Nippon Airways Co.
