BURSA MALAYSIA: Share Prices Mixed At Midday

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- Share prices on Bursa Malaysia closed mixed at midday on Thursday, with the market being sustained by the buying of blue chips, especially in the plantation sector, said dealers.

At lunch break, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (FBM KLCI) was 2.04 points higher at 1,273.04 after opening 0.71 of a point lower at 1,270.29.

The FBM Emas Index gained 2.01 points to 8,477.73, the FBM Top 100 increased 4.8 points to 8,290.72 and the FBM 70 dropped 29.51 points to 8,171.63.

The FBM ACE fell 16.24 points to 4,313.76 and the Industrial Index rose 3.94 points to 2,701.25.

The Plantation Index surged 49.67 points to 6,281.6 while the Finance Index shed 7.31 points to 10,953.2.

Losers led gainers by 283 to 220 while 254 counters were unchanged and 527 others untraded.

A total of 391.906 million shares, worth RM427.054 million, were transacted.

Among the actives, Harvest-WA rose six sen to 11.5 sen, Maxis advanced five sen to RM5.35 and Maxis-CA increased three sen to 18 sen.

As for the heavyweights, Sime Darby, CIMB and PPB jumped two sen each to RM9.00, RM12.90 and RM15.92 respectively.

Meanwhile, IOI Corp and DiGi each rose eight sen to RM5.49 and RM22.00 respectively while Tenaga slid one sen to RM8.42 and Axiata dropped two sen to RM3.10.
