FOREX: Ringgit Opens Slightly Higher Against US Dollar
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 25 (Bernama) -- The ringgit opened slightly higher against the US dollar on Wednesday following Bank Negara's decision to leave the overnight policy rate unchanged at two per cent, a dealer said.
At 9am, the ringgit stood at 3.3780/3810 against the greenback from yesterday's 3.3870/3910 close.
The dealer said the local unit benefited from the central bank's decision at its last Monetary Policy Committee meeting for 2009 yesterday amid optimism on economic recovery.
Bank Negara, in its latest indicators, had continued to signal further improvements in the international economic and financial conditions.
Against other major currencies, the ringgit appreciated vis-a-vis the Singapore dollar to 2.4381/4427 from 2.4400/4454 yesterday but declined against the Japanese yen to 3.8217/8255 from 3.8198/8247 on Tuesday.
Against the British pound, the ringgit dipped slightly to 5.6082/6152 from 5.5977/5050 yesterday and was lower against the euro at 5.0555/0614 from 5.0531/0594 on Tuesday.
