140 Children Circumcised Via Smart Klamp Technique

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- One hundred and forty children, aged between six and 12, were Sunday circumcised using the new Smart Klamp technique.

The circumcision ceremony was jointly-organised by Masjid Negara (National Mosque) and Rumah Khitan Sdn Bhd.

The Grand Imam of Masjid Negara, Tan Sri Syaikh Ismail Muhammad, said the circumcision ceremony had received encouraging response from the public this year, as compared to the previous year.

"Last year, there were only 80 participants, but this year, the number has increased to 140," he told reporters after launching the ceremony here.

Meanwhile, programme assistant coordinator Jamal Nahar Ibrahim, 29, said the Smart Klamp was a faster and safer technique to perform circumcision.

"Using the Smart Klamp technique takes only 15 minutes to circumcise an individual," he said.

Rumah Khitan medical officer Mohamad Zaidi Radzuan, on the other hand, said the technique would also enable the circumcised individual to resume his activities without much problem.

"Prior to this, circumcision meant that there will be stitches and long bed confinement. However, by using the Smart Klamp, the individual needs only to rest for a day," he said.

Under the programme, an individual is charged RM150 for circumcision.
