Government Leaving It To AG To Handle RM105 Million Suit, Says Muhyiddin

BANDUNG, Nov 21 (Bernama) - Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the government was leaving it to the Attorney-General as to the course of action to be taken over a RM105 million suit filed by the fathers of three pupils who died in the Kuala Dipang bridge tragedy in Perak last month.

The Deputy Prime Minister said he had yet to be fully briefed on the suit but because a case had been taken up, the government would seek the counsel of the Attorney-General.

"It is unfortunate this has happened. However, I do not want to comment much as what I say might be misinterpreted," he told a press conference after holding a meeting with leaders of Umno clubs in Indonesia, here Saturday.

K.Mageswaran, K.Vasudevan and T. Nathan had named 10 parties including the the Education Minister and the Government of Malaysia as defendants in the RM105 million suit they filed at the Ipoh High Court on Friday.

They alleged negligence on the part of the defendants caused the deaths of their children, M. Devatharshini, 11, V. Divyashree, 12, and N. Dinadevi, 11, who drowned in the Kampar River after they fell into it when a suspension bridge the girls were crossing together with scores of other pupils attending a holiday camp suddenly collapsed.
