Only 484 Flood Evacuees Left In Kedah
ALOR SETAR, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- The flood situation which hit Kedah 12 days ago has almost abated with only 484 flood evacuees remaining at the flood relief centres compared with 1,164 Wednesday afternoon.
A spokesperson from the State Flood Operations Room said floods in Kubang Pasu have subsided, and 24 victims from 10 families at the Dewan Lubuk Keriang relief centre were sent home.
In Kota Setar, 194 flood victims from 52 families remained at four relief centres -- Sekolah Kebangsaan Wan Sulaiman Siddiq (68), Surau Kampung Pulau Binjal (31), Dewan Kampung Kandis Telok (69) and Dewan Tabika Telok Kandis (26).
Meanwhile, 290 evacuees from 69 families were still staying at four relief centres in the Bandar Baharu district.
Water level readings at Sungai Titi Haji Idris in Kota Setar continued to exceed the danger level at 2.47 metres (danger level 2.15 metres), whereby other rivers were back at normal levels.
