State Government Ready To Help If Perak FA Can Settle Leadership Crisis - Zainol
IPOH, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- The Perak state government are ready to help cash-strapped Perak Football Association (Perak FA), provided, the association settle its leadership crisis said state chairman for Youth and Sports Zainol Padzi Paharuddin Wednesday.
"The state government has no problem in helping, but the credibility of the leader is the issue here...," he said.
Zainol said 12 of the 17 Perak FA affiliates had last week sent a notice to the Perak FA, requesting for an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), to discuss a vote of no confidence against the president and council members.
According to the constitution, a request from seven affiliates was enough to call for an EGM and the Perak FA has 30 days to call for the said EGM, Zainol who is also a Perak FA council member, said.
Yesterday, Perak FA president and former Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin had asked the state government to assist the cash-strapped association by providing financial aid since the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) had barred Perak from playing in the M-League next season.
Meanwhile, Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir who said that he had no intention of taking over as president, urged Nizar to stop politicizing the issue.
"Do not drag football into politics because I have no intention of taking over. But for the love of sports and the development of sports in the state, I have directed to try and resolve the issue," he said.
Zambry added that Nizar's claim that the Kelantan state government had funded the team, was not true as the state government had only contributed incentives to players after they had qualified for the Malaysia Cup final.
"I had checked with Kelantan FA president Tan Sri Annuar Musa today and he clarified that the state government only came forward to assist after the team stepped into the final," said Zambry.
