Kelantan Floods Claim Second Life
PASIR MAS, Nov 10 (Bernama) -- The floods in Kelantan have claimed a second life.
Six-year-old Mohamad Syakimi Sayuti drowned after falling into a canal in Kampung Pak Sek on Monday while playing with a younger brother, Mohd Hasif, four, and a friend, Mohd Shahrul Che Musa, five.
Mohd Shahrul said Mohamad Syakimi was running up and down a bank of the canal when he slipped and fell into it at about 5.30pm.
His mother, Norashikin Jusoh, 27, told reporters she knew of the accident only after Mohd Hasif came home crying to relate the news.
Pasir Mas police chief Supt Haliluddin Rahim confirmed that Mohamad Syakimi drowned after falling into the canal.
He said villagers found the body at about 6pm and sent it to the Pasir Mas Hospital.
The first victim of the floods was Mohd Mazlan Yajid, 28, who drowned on Nov 6 while bathing in Sungai Banggol Kerian in Pasir Puteh.
