Abdul Latif's Contributions Earn Him Negeri Sembilan Sports For All Award

SEREMBAN, Nov 8 (Bernama) -- Abdul Latif Saleh, the father of four national shuttlers, received the Negeri Sembilan Sports for All Award for 2009 under the active family category here Sunday.

Abdul Latif, 55, a Public Works Department technician was chosen for his dedication, contributions and sacrifices in grooming four national shuttlers and two state players over the years.

His son Mohd Zakry forms one half of the country's second ranked doubles pair with Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari while Mohd Razif, Mohammad Arif and Nairul Suhada are all in the national badminton squad while his two other daughters Nairul Athirah and Nairul Nabilah are members of the Negeri Sembilan squad.

Seen as another Sidek family - father of Misbun, Razif, Jalani, Rashid - in the making, Abdul Latif who is also a committee member of the Negeri Sembilan Badminton Association and the Malaysian Malays Badminton Association, has been involved in conducting coaching clinics for youth organisations, schools and higher learning institutions in the state.

He received RM2,000, a trophy and certificate from Human Capital Development, Youth and Sports committee chairman Abd Samad Ibrahim during the Negeri Sembilan Sports awards ceremony here Sunday.
