Malaysia Cup: Negeri Sembilan Comfortable With Underdog Tag

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- Despite being labelled as an underdog, Negeri Sembilan remain spirited as they prepare to take on Kelantan in the Malaysia Cup final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday.

Coach Wan Jamak Wan Hassan said the tag would take the pressure from the players in their quest for the prestigious cup.

"If they are under pressure, they are bound to make mistakes," he told reporters here Friday.

Wan Jamak said the unpredictable weather could affect the rhythm of the game but it would be up to the players to adapt to the situation.

Negeri Sembilan beat Kelantan on three out of four matches this season but Wan Jamak said each match was a different ball game altogether.

"It is a different atmosphere when you play in the final. We need to play well and try to convert every opportunity into a goal," he said.

On Kelantan, Wan Jamak said the opponents had a strong fan base and tomorrow he expects "The Red Warriors" to be at the stadium in full force to support their team.

Meanwhile Kelantan coach, B. Sathianathan both teams played well this season.

"We are ready and have prepared for any eventuality, including the possibility of the match being decided by penalty kick," he said.

All the 85,000 tickets to the final have been sold out.
