Gas Cylinder Factory Destroyed In Fire
JOHOR BAHARU, Nov 4 (Bernama) -- Amidst a series of explosions, fire destroyed a factory which manufactured cooking gas cylinders at the Sri Purnama industrial area near the Pandan wholesale market here Wednesday.
The incident which occured about 4pm, was believed to have been caused by a spark.
Firemen from Larkin and Taman Johor Jaya brought the blaze under control within 15 minutes.
State fire and rescue department deputy director Sukor Sani Hashim said that at the height of the fire, between 15 and 20 explosions were heard as there were over 200 gas cylinders at the premises.
"We are in the midst of locating the factory owner to record his statement," he said.
