No Public Gatherings Outside State Secretariat Building
IPOH, Oct 27 (Bernama) -- Police have warned the public against illegal gatherings held outside the Perak state secretariat building throughout the three-day Perak state legislative assembly sitting.
Perak police chief Datuk Zulkefli Abdullah said police had received information that some party leaders had urged the public to gather at the building tomorrow.
"Any gathering without a permit is considered illegal and against the law. This also include those who plan or organise such gatherings," said Zulkefli in a statement Tuesday.
Zulkefli said police would station enough officers to ensure the safety of state assemblymen and those invited to attend the assembly.
"Police will take stern action against anybody who tried to disrupt peace or pose a threat to public safety," he said.
He added that police had obtained a court order under Section 98 of the Criminal Procedure Code to prevent anybody from gathering within a 50-meter radius of the state secretariat building at Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab, for three days, starting from 1am (Oct 28) to 11pm on Oct 30.
