Malaysian Pilgrims Head For Mecca Beginning Wednesday
MECCA, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- Malaysian pilgrims already in Medina will make their journey to Mecca in stages beginning Wednesday to perform the umrah while waiting for the haj season to start at the end of next month.
The head of the Malaysian haj delegation, Mohd Salleh Abd Mubin said all the 26,000 Malaysians doing their pilgrimage this year were expected arrive in the holy city by Nov 21.
Speaking to Malaysian media personnel covering this year's haj, he said Tabung Haji (Malaysian Pilgrims Fund) staff were already on standby in Mecca to receive the pilgrims.
Mohd Salleh, who is also Tabung Haji's senior general manager for haj operations, said the Saudi government was providing between 30 and 40 buses to ferry the pilgrims from Medina to Mecca according to a pre-set schedule.
He added that Tabung Haji staff would also be stationed accordingly in Arafah, Mina and Mudzalifah to facilitate the pilgrims in their haj rituals.
