MMEA To Go On Publicity Blitz In Sarawak

KUCHING, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) is planning to aggressively promote its enforcement, search and rescue activities to create better awareness of its role in Sarawak.

MMEA Sarawak Region Public Relations Officer Ahmad Zaharudin said the aggressive promotion would be done via the electronic and print media in the state.

"As of now, among the proposal that we are working on is a live interview on Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) to explain our roles and inform the public of our hotline," he told Bernama here Thursday.

Ahmad said it also planned to advertise its hotline number in the local newspapers to enable the public especially the target group to call MMEA Sarawak region in case of emergency or to lodge a report.

"We want the target group to know our hotline number 082-392414 like the other departments and agencies which have their own hotline number," he said.

Presently he said, although many realised the existence of the MMEA Sarawak Region, there was room for improvement in terms of deeper understanding of its role and this could be done through promotion among the youths.

"The MMEA Sarawak Region now is known to secondary school students and we want to continue our efforts in that area," he said.
