Opportunities For M'sian Companies Plenty In Emerging Markets, Says Mukhriz

KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 (Bernama) -- Malaysian companies can expand their businesses into emerging economies like Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Indonesia as they offer plenty of opportunities, says Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister, Datuk Mukhriz Tun Mahathir.

He said the companies could penetrate the services sector of these countries including Information Communication Technology (ICT).

"Malaysian companies need a boost of confidence to venture as well as to compete in the overseas markets. I believe the new emerging markets in the region need investment in the services sector.

"Malaysian companies can go a long way providing them the services needed," Mukhriz told reporters after the annual general meeting of the Federation of Public Listed Companies Bhd (FPLC), here Monday.

He pointed out that local companies in the oil and gas as well as the construction sectors have not only ventured overseas but have also established their markets.

Meanwhile, FPLC president Tan Sri Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas said the federation was looking at organising a trade mission to Indonesia, China and India.
