Kelantan Sultan Stable, To Have Treatment In Singapore

KOTA BAHARU, May 23 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Ismail Petra Ibni Almarhum Sultan Yahya Petra, is reported to be in stable condition following treatment for a heart ailment, and will leave for further treatment in Singapore.

The sultan, who has been receiving treatment at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian since May 14, would undergo further treatment at the Mt Elizabeth Hospital in the republic, HUSM director Dr Zaidun Kamari said today.

"The sultan was treated by a team of specialists from HUSM, the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital, the National Heart Institute (IJN) and the Mt Elizabeth Hospital and is in stable condition but not fully recovered.

"Tuanku will go to the Mt Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore for further treatment," he said in a media statement.

Dr Zaidun said the sultan was admitted to HUSM after he had complained of difficulty breathing and that after treatment it was found that the sultan had a heart ailment.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, and several other sultans visited the sultan at the hospital.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had also visited the sultan.
