Suara Keadilan Has Replied To Ministry's Letter

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 (Bernama) -- The official newspaper of Parti Keadilan Rakyat, Suara Keadilan, has replied to the Home Ministry's show-cause letter, the party's information chief Tian Chua said.

He said the reply was sent by hand to the office of the ministry's secretary-general at the Publication Control and Al-Quran Text Division in Putrajaya yesterday before the expiry of the seven-day deadline set by the ministry.

"Together with the letter was the latest copy of Sura Keadilan which contains a correction and withdrawal of the news on the health of Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan," he said in a statement.

Suara Keadilan was served with the show-cause letter over an article which said Musa had become paralysed after a heart bypass.

Friday, Home Ministry Secretary-General Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said the ministry had not received the reply from Suara Keadilan as of yesterday afternoon.

Also served with similar letters were The Sun for allegedly manipulating and playing up sensitive issues and Sin Chew Daily for reporting the controversy over the alleged racist remarks by former Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail.
