RM500,000 For Each Parliamentary Constituency
KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 (Bernama) -- Each parliamentary constituency will receive RM500,000 from the Prime Minister special allocation after the March 8 general election.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Hassan Malek said the money would be channelled through the State Development Office in each state.
"All members of Parliament can propose to the Office suitable projects for implementation using the allocation," he said in a written reply to Loke Siew Fook (DAP-Rasah) in the Dewan Rakyat Thursday.
Loke wanted to know the amount allocated for development in Parliamentary constituecies this year and how it would be channelled.
Hassan said the State Development Office would consider the projects proposed based on the existing guidelines and financial regulations.
To another query by Loke, Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar said that as at Dec 31, 2007, 371,252 people possessed MyPR -- identity card issued to permanent residents.
"MyPR holders domicile in the country originally came from not less than 87 countries and the majority of them are from Indonesia, Philippines, India, China, Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia and Taiwan," he said.
