KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- The flood situation in Perak and Kedah is improving, with lesser evacuees at relief centres Friday.

At the Kerian district in PERAK, 91 victims returned home, leaving 898 at six flood relief centres.

Its police operations room spokesman said flood-hit villages were Kampung Changkat Lobak, Kampung Matang Pasir, Kampung Parit Ayer Hitam, Parit Simpang Empat, Kampung Matang Merbau and Kampung Parit Abu Hasan.

He said the Jalan Bagan Serai-Selama stretch from 10km and to 17km was opened to motorists Friday afternoon.

In KEDAH, the flood situation also showed an improvement with 88 evacuees returning home, leaving behind 239 at three flood relief centres in Bandar Baharu.

Relief centres still open in Bandar Baharu are Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Kecil Hulu, Sekolah kebangsaan Bandar Baharu and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Bagan Samak.

Meanwhile in KUANTAN, continuous rain since yesterday forced 24 people from three families in Kampung Sungai Ular to be evacuated from their homes.
