JASA To Explain Current Issues Through NGOs

KANGAR, Nov 18(Bernama) -- Special Affairs Department (JASA) would utilise the non-governmental organisations (NGO) to clarify various current issues accurately so that the public would not make any wrong intepretations on the country.

Its director-general Datuk Fuad Hassan said, to make the clarification process smoother, JASA would supply all the information on the latest development to the NGOs to be channelled to their target groups.

"We do not want the public to be influenced by the negative perception and slanders hurled by certain quarters and those without accurate information would be easily influenced by these slanders," he said when launching the Perlis JASA NGO Secretariat, here Wednesday.

He said the public needed to get accurate information on whatever issues that occurred in the country so that they did not contribute to the slanders being spread.

JASA would also give accurate information on the 1Malaysia concept which was introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Razak so that the concept would not be perceived negatively and would not be viewed as being detrimental to the country.

Fuad said the race-based organisations also needed to understand the true concept of 1Malaysia so that they could channel accurate information about the concept that aimed to create a perfect environment for racial unity.

Meanwhile, Perlis JASA director Saiful Daniel Mohd Yusof said the NGOs secretariat was launched to facilitate the department in extending accurate information to the people of Perlis through the NGOs.

He said the secretariat would also monitor the movement of other NGOs to ensure that they were on the right platform when delivering information on government policy and on current issues.
