Hospital Launches Open Source Software Hospital Information System

KUCHING, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) Cardiac Centre, an internationally-recognised leading heart centre, is the latest in the region to use the myCare2x Open Source Software (OSS) Hospital Information System (HIS).

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan Nong Nam said MyCare2x OSS HIS solution was already implemented in a hospital in the Philippines, while another two hospitals are currently under implementation in Nepal.

"Currently, there are eight hospitals in Germany, using the MyCare2x solution," he said at a media conference after the launch of myCare2x Open Source Software Hospital Infromation System here on Monday.

The Sarawak Information System (Sains), in cooperation with Healthcare Consulting (Germany), spent the last few months implementing the OSS HIS for the SGH's cardiac centre.

Dr Chan said the myCare2x solution, which was a matured, stable and feature-rich product, would not only be readily adopted in Malaysia and the Asian region but also beyond.

The SGH's cardiac centre is an internationally-recognised heart centre in Malaysia since 2001. It is headed by Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Through its three departments of cardiothoracic surgery, cardiac anaesthesia and perfusion unit, the cardiac centre has a comprehensive cardiac information integrated system which provides an integrated view of visual and data information.
